The Supreme Court

       Blog #3

The Supreme Court                                The Founding Era & The Idea of America

While learning about the founding era and the Idea of America, I learned about The power that has the Judicial Review and how long it took for the Supreme Court to create a branch that they would protect its law and other branches' distribution of power. Preventing others part of the court from using power to get what they want.

The idea of America started before the Slave Trade in 1619, wish became a thread through the history of America. Later on, Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence asking for the states to write the Constitution. The federal Constitution was created in 1781, with the idea that the state would be loosely tight together with the idea that the power would reside in the state.

This followed the states trying to fix the Articles of Confederation being contentious, and almost not getting the Constitution 20 years before the federal government would discuss slavery. 1789 the constitution was ratified. This means that not every state was ratified because not all the states had a Bill of Rights. In the same year, Madison got to work on the Bill of Rights and the First Amendment.

In 1798  John Adams, got Congress to write the   Alien and Sedition Acts making it a crime to critique the government, while Jefferson and Maddison created the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions.

The Supreme Court and the general system were weak in the1801, in reality, Congress had the power. John Marshall wanted to increase the power and prestige of the court case; which 2 years after was created the legal term for Judicial Review. Judicial review is the power of the court to review all actions of all branches of the government and deem them constitutional or not. This era ending with the end is slavery in 1803 seems the rule of the 20 years has finally ended.

Being able to learn about the Supreme Court, allowed me to learn about the power behind the image of the president, which is more than a person being multiple branches with a long impactful history.
